This is my project, a game with the impressive title ‘Cool Shooter’, which I’ve tried to modify as much as I could; this is my first project that can actually be called a game. I had some more ideas for additional changes, but I’d fallen a bit behind with the game’s development, so I decided to stick with the modifications I’d already implemented.

Main modifications

1. Main menu

I’ve changed the interface of the Main Menu buttons and the background. I’ve also added music and sound effects for pressing the buttons in the menu.

2. Level maps

I created a large map for the first level - well, I consider it to be large; initially, it was supposed to be smaller, but I just felt it wasn’t big enough. The map for the second level is based on part of the first level, but I’ve expanded it a little so that enemies can attack from different sides.

3. First Level

  • The first-level map features:
  • trees
  • towers with snipers
  • stationary Hummers
  • armoured personnel carriers
  • a helicopter at the base
  • buildings
  • crates and barrels
  • bushes
  • rocks
  • tree stumps
  • barricades made of sacks

There are also two small Easter eggs on the first level. The first is a cat; when you approach it, you can hear a cute ‘m-e-o-w’ sound. The second is a picture you can see if you walk along the edges of the map. (I didn’t draw this picture myself; I found it online. I just think it’s quite funny.)

4. Level Two

On the second level, there are spawners for soldiers, armoured personnel carriers and snipers. You simply need to fend off waves of enemies; victory is achieved once you’ve defeated 100 enemies. Not all spawners are active straight away; the longer you survive, the more spawners are activated, and the game becomes more difficult.

(You might not even see an BTR that has spawned, because, to be honest, towards the end I couldn’t be bothered to check whether they’d spawn before you’d killed 100 enemies.) During the initial tests,

they weren’t there; I’ve moved the start of the BTR spawn point closer, so in theory they should start spawning before you’ve defeated 100 enemies.)

The second level also has its own music, which is different from the music in the first level.

Added enemies

1. Sniper

The Sniper enemy has been added. He fires a sniper rifle, and his bullets travel faster than those of other enemies.

  • Sniper features:
  • has its own appearance
  • has its own firing sound effect
  • its bullet looks different
  • the bullet has its own animation
  • the death animation has been kept the same as the Soldier’s, as it worked well
  • the defeat sound effect has also been kept the same as the Soldier’s

2. Soldier

  • Has its own firing sound effect
  • Has its own appearance
  • Has a bullet with a different velocity
  • The bullet has its own unique animation
  • The bullet has its own appearance

3. BTR

  • has two cannons from which bullets are fired
  • its bullets have their own animation
  • the bullets have a different appearance
  • has its own appearance
  • has its own firing sound effect
  • has an explosion animation
  • has an epic explosion sound effect

4. Helicopter

  • This enemy could be described as a boss-type enemy
  • it has three guns
  • it uses the same bullets as the BTR
  • its bullets are slightly faster than those of the BTR
  • it approaches the hero faster than the BTR
  • it has a rotor blade rotation animation

Main character modification

  • has its own unique appearance
  • has its own firing sound effect
  • has its own defeat animation

The defeat animation is barely visible because, upon the character’s death, they are immediately teleported to the spawn point

I messed up when I was making it; I thought that since I was creating death animations for the others, I’d make one for the main character too, but I didn’t take this little detail into account

In short, the main menu has been updated, and I’ve added sound effects, music, new enemies, new animations, a large map for the first level, and a second level with waves of enemies. I’ve also added decorative objects, Easter eggs and various details. I think I’ve done a good job; I look forward to your feedback
